Jenkins-Essex, Butler mark 50 years of building together

A local company has been acknowledged for its longevity and effectiveness by Butler Manufacturing, a top name in commercial building solutions.

Jenkins-Essex Construction Inc., an Elizabethtown-based general contractor, reached the 50th anniversary of its association with Butler Manufacturing and also was recognized as a High Performance Builder by Butler.

Jenkins-Essex and Butler Manufacturing projects dot the local landscape and include Soudal Accumetric, Altec Industries, Swope Toyota, Akebono North American headquarters and Elizabethtown/Hardin County Industrial Foundation.

The High Performance designation is awarded to Butler Builder dealers which meet or exceed annual territory sales goals and demonstrate superior marketing skills. Jenkins-Essex Construction has received this award for six consecutive years.

Founded in 1904, Jenkins-Essex is a fourth-generation family-owned and managed business has been an authorized Butler Builder since 1969.

Greg Jenkins, a 1982 graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology with a degree in building construction, serves as company president.

Jenkins-Essex has been involved in some of the region’s most recognizable construction projects for more than 100 years including Elizabethtown Sports Park, Hardin County Justice Center, St. James Catholic Church and renovation of the Historic State Theater. Its current projects include Central Kentucky Community Foundation headquarters, Hardin County Extension Service office and Altec Industries plant expansion.

The company’s portfolio includes industrial, commercial, office/medical, religious, governmental, recreational and education projects.

Butler Manufacturing, based in Kansas City, Missouri, provides design-build construction solutions and building technology for the nonresidential market through a network of more than 1,400 Butler Builder dealers worldwide.
